Omar Abdin

Student

Hey!
My name (excluding some middle names) is Omar Abdin. I was born and raised in Jordan, but I’m originally Palestinian. I spent the first 13 years of my life in Amman - and moved to Dubai after that before coming to BYU! I’m an artist who’s always been involved in the digital art medium and I always appreciated the technical side of any practice. I’ve been involved in robotics, and I took computer science in high school. I’ve always loved tech, design, and anything that comes with that. Video games (and media in general) have been and always will be my main passions. I chose to mentor in computer science because I recognize how difficult it can be to double dip into art and computer science while feeling you are stronger at one than the other. I want to help others, and will always be happy to talk about shared passions in video games and art alike.

Every computer science student has a reason for choosing their concentration, and I always want to hear it. Computer science and art are all about trusting the process and creating new things, something that attracts so many people for so many different reasons, and it's something I’d love to learn more about. I got my first laptop when I was 10 years old as a result of winning an art competition - soon after that I got my first drawing tablet. Never feel like you must choose one or the other when both can combine and lift each other.
