Hi!
My name is Elise Wirthlin! I’m from Spokane Washington. I have always enjoyed making things and learning how to use new mediums to create things. I also enjoy watching movies with friends. On the weekends, I like to go for runs and hikes. Interestingly, I didn’t always plan on going into Computer Science. In high school, I was really into biology and thought I might major in it, possibly heading into healthcare. But after taking a biology class, I realized it wasn’t quite the right fit for me. I had to reshuffle my entire schedule, and on a whim, I decided to try a Computer Science class. I Was surprised to find that I actually really enjoyed it! I was instantly drawn to the constant learning, creativity, and problem-solving that coding offers.
There's something so satisfying about breaking down a complex problem, working through the challenge, and finally seeing your code come to life. One thing in particular that I really like about coding is how approachable it can be. No matter how tough a problem seems, you can always break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces until you figure it out. And that’s what makes CS such an inclusive field—anyone, regardless of their background or experience, can succeed with persistence and curiosity.
